Kabe
Kabe is a call-blocking and scam-SMS-filtering app built around a simple promise: we do not collect, store, or transmit your call history, your message content, or your contacts.
Kabe registers two system extensions with iOS:
Phone numbers and SMS content themselves never leave your device.
These are saved in your device's standard app storage and the App Group container. They are synced to iCloud only if you have iOS's standard app-data sync enabled for your Apple ID. Apart from your blocking rules, described under “Keeping the blocklist current” below, they are not sent to us or any third party.
Three things. You start the first two; the third is the blocklist update described below. First: if you choose to make an In-App Purchase (Tip Jar), the transaction is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. Kabe only receives a success/failure result; we do not see your payment details, your Apple ID, or your purchase history. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
If you tap Send feedback and write to us, that message is uploaded to our database on Apple's CloudKit, together with the app version, your iOS version, your device model and your language, so we can tell whether a problem is specific to one iOS release or one country. Nothing else goes with it: not your phone number, not your exception list, not any call or message. Sending feedback is always something you start; the app never sends it on its own.
Once you have written in, the app sends its build number, and nothing but the build number, again whenever it updates. That is so a reply is only written when the version on your phone can still read one. A phone that has never sent feedback never sends this.
Kabe carries a list of spam numbers that we maintain. The app fetches the latest version from our server periodically and uses it to block, so a newly active spam number can be stopped without waiting for an app update.
To keep that list current, the app sends the blocking rules you have added: numbers and ranges (for example 0120-912), which is how we tell what is worth adding. Call audio, message text, your contacts and your exception list are never sent. The upload goes through Apple’s CloudKit, which automatically attaches an iCloud account identifier and a device identifier to every record. A phone that has never added a rule sends nothing at all. This is how the list keeps up with numbers that have only just started calling. Ranges other people blocked stop calls before they ever reach you, and the ranges you block do the same for them.
Kabe contains zero analytics SDKs, tracking libraries, advertising identifiers, or crash reporting services. We do not count how often you open the app or how long you use it, and we build no profile of you.
