"Customer service" wants to give you a refund? Hang up
The caller says they are from a store or a service. There is a problem with your order, and they want to refund you.
If any of these happen, it is almost surely a scam
- They ask you to install an app or share your screen.
- They ask you to send money, buy gift cards, or scan a code to "verify" you.
- They say you signed up for a membership and must use your bank card to cancel it.
Real customer service never asks you to pay first to get a refund.
Not sure? Hang up. Then open the store's own app or website and contact them from there.
